Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen announced that applications are being accepted for the “UnitedHealth HEROES” grant program, which provides grants aimed at combating pediatric obesity.

The United Health Foundation is partnering with Youth Service America to provide grants of up to $1,000 to give youth an opportunity to learn about obesity and design programs/initiatives to combat the disease in their communities. This is a three-year partnership between the Foundation and YSA.

The program provides grants to educators, service-learning coordinators and students in the health professions to implement youth-led service-learning projects addressing childhood obesity.

Applications for the grants are still being accepted. To apply online, visit www.YSA.org/awards and click on the “Awards and Grants” tab and select UnitedHealth HEROES.
