Delegate to Congress Donna M. Christensen is pleased to announce that the Virgin Islands Energy Office (VIEO) has received $200,481 in funding as part of the PY2009 Weatherization Program Formula Grants, from the United States Department of Energy (DOE).
The Weatherization Assistance Program is the base program used at DOE for reducing energy costs for low-income families by increasing home energy efficiency. Weatherization improves local air quality, avoids emissions of greenhouse gases, reduces the risk of fires, and decreases cases of homelessness. The program serves low-income families in owned or rented homes. The run time for this grant is October 2009 through September 30, 2010.
